We Are What We Eat

The Sunday School potluck is my nemesis, and this weekend’s social proved it. I totally fell off the wagon. I’m not talking about drugs or alcohol, I’m talking junk food… And way too much of it.

I should have just pressed the brownies right onto my thighs because that’s where they’ll end up; but there’s no satisfaction in that, so I ate them! And the cookies. And the lobster spread. And the cheese potatoes…

Now I have to get back on track, after all, Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away! Knowing I needed to get back on track (first thing Monday morning!), I made a batch of the best Breakfast Muffins click here for muffin recipe

“Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.”
– Psalm 119:18 NLT

Jake was beyond excited when he opened one of his 6th birthday gifts from his parents and saw the 1000 piece train engine puzzle he had asked for. I was excited, too! I really enjoy puzzles, but this one looked difficult and did I mention it had 1000 pieces!

This photo shows about how far along Jake and I got while I was visiting. He may have it finished the next time I visit, or not. I’m not that big into train locomotives but Jake is, and that’s enough for me to enjoy this puzzle.

As I was thinking about this particular puzzle, it dawned on me that this looks a lot like my mind must continue here

It’s Time for Steak!

post164graphicLike many people who grew up in a churched family I learned early on to believe in God and to trust that Jesus died for my sins. However, my knowlege of God was fragmented and my understanding of Christianity was marginal.

I assumed the knowledge I had was true because it sounded and felt good and people I trusted had taught me. While I knew plenty of Bible stories, I had no idea how the stories fit together from Adam to Armageddon.

Rules of the Road

post147graphic_edited-1

About a lifetime ago, when our boys were in High School, the driver’s training instructor told all of us anxious parents what to do to prepare our excited children for his class: Take them driving. I don’t think he wanted to be the first person to sit next to a teenager who had the keys for the first time!

Do you remember the day you got your license? I do! And I’ve no idea how I passed the driving test; I didn’t know how to drive. All my friends told me what the written test would be like so I memorized the rules of the road. I knew I’d have to parallel park so I learned that, too. I passed both tests on the first try.

In the weeks after I got my license I learned how to continue here

How Many Books Does It Take to Know Jesus?

Brian just marked his one-year anniversary of walking away from the corporate world. Amazingly, it is also the one-year anniversary of living with me day in and day out. Suffice it to say this has been a year of discovery.

Of all the people who know me well, Brian knows me best. However, if he’d written a book about me a year ago, he’d be writing the “Revised Edition” by now, Chapter One would be, “Moving In: Are You Kidding Me?”

This is our eleventh home as husband and wife. However, this may be the first move that we’ve accomplished together from start to finish. I’ve heard multiple times over the past few months, “When did you get like this?”

The answer, continues right here
