Love: The Missing Link

post166graphic“And yet I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” – 1 Corinthians 12:31b-13:1 NIV

Boy, are we hearing a cacophony of resounding gongs and clanging cymbals of late! There is a lot of name-calling, Bible quoting, hurtful, slanderous, and hateful words tossed around by many angry Christians and with good reason, but perhaps poor judgment.

Christians are writing and saying unkind things to both Christians and non-Christians. There seems to be an air of confrontation permeating every conversational medium and continue here

A Most Powerful Testimony

post148graphicHave you ever wished your salvation story was a bit more dramatic? Is it unusual to hear a fantastic testimony of how God lifted a hopeless, lost and broken sinner out of the depths of destruction and think, “I wish I had a testimony like that?”

Maybe you do.

Rules of the Road

post147graphic_edited-1

About a lifetime ago, when our boys were in High School, the driver’s training instructor told all of us anxious parents what to do to prepare our excited children for his class: Take them driving. I don’t think he wanted to be the first person to sit next to a teenager who had the keys for the first time!

We quickly piled in for a ride and our trip went right past the car dealership where we saw our old, green used-up, dilapidated, banged up, has-been of a vehicle in the back lot. We asked Dad to turn around so we could see her one more time.

From our new perspective, sitting in the air-conditioned comfort of our new car, our old car looked abandoned, lonely, and rejected. Our hearts were heavy for our discarded green friend sitting all alone in the back of the lot.

As I recall, we actually cried as we drove home. We loved that car; it had proved faithful to our family and now we had tossed her aside. Believe it or not, – find more here>

Going to “The Masters”

post136graphic
Brian and I were babysitting our grandsons in Georgia on Friday evening when the phone rang. It was Dan, “Hey, is dad there?”

I handed the phone to Brian and the next thing I knew, I was married to a twelve-year-old who had just learned there was a new bike under the Christmas tree with his name on it, and it was Christmas Eve!! Dan had an extra ticket to “The Masters” and had offered it to Brian.

Of course Brian would have to get up at 4 a.m. in order to get to Augusta in time, but that’s OK, he couldn’t There’s more here
