Finding My Way Around

post251pic1This is ridiculously embarrassing, but last week (after living in Texas for over two years) I got lost coming home from Target! I made one wrong turn and I had no idea where I was. It’s not like I haven’t been to Target a few times since moving here, it’s that I don’t keep reading here

Light

post221pic2When it is nap time, I sit in the dark with my little grandson, and rock him till he is drowsy, then I put him down and he falls right to sleep. However, if the blind is cracked even a little bit, he holds out, staring at the light. He has learned that light means it is time to get up! The dark is not his friend.

It is not our friend either, the things that we fear most reside in darkness. Hurts. Disappointments. Depression. Oppression. Lies. Sin. Infidelity. Deception. Death. And a host of unimaginable monsters. Continue here

Love: The Missing Link

post166graphic“And yet I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” – 1 Corinthians 12:31b-13:1 NIV

Boy, are we hearing a cacophony of resounding gongs and clanging cymbals of late! There is a lot of name-calling, Bible quoting, hurtful, slanderous, and hateful words tossed around by many angry Christians and with good reason, but perhaps poor judgment.

Christians are writing and saying unkind things to both Christians and non-Christians. There seems to be an air of confrontation permeating every conversational medium and continue here

What’s Next? A Closer Look!

When you look at a group photo that you are in, who is the first person you look at? I’ll confess, I look at myself first. And then I get critical. Am I smiling? Hair OK? Eyes open? Good posture? Then I look at everyone else.

Clearly this reveals a bit of self-centeredness, but sometimes we need to keep reading here

Breaking Bad: The Danger of Discontent

blog162 pix

Brian and I have arrived at the Breaking Bad picnic a bit later than most people have. Actually, if it had not been for a hot Texas weekend, a completed “to-do” list and a Netflix account we might never have found it.

We didn’t intend to watch more than an episode or two to find out what all the brouhaha was about, however, three episodes later we are keep reading here

When Discontent is the Right Thing

post160graphic
It started with a single video, and not a one of us wanted to believe what we were seeing and hearing. Then, one after another, more videos were released and truth hit us squarely right between the eyes.

I’ve never had an abortion, so I can’t speak for the women who have; however, I can speak to Christians who are called to be like Jesus. We must open our hearts, arms, and lives to the men and women who need to be loved, restored, and supported. We must not break their bruised souls. We must not snuff out the smoldering embers of their faith.

Yes, my heart breaks for the continue here

Choices

First you make your choices, and then your choices make you. If you are like me, you know that’s a true statement, but sometimes it just doesn’t matter.

Seriously, it’s January and the gym is calling your name…

But so are the treats in the pantry…

Both can be right choices at the right time. I think it becomes a bad choice when we choose sweets at the expense of sweat for a long period of time. It requires hours on the elliptical to work off a momentary indulgence in thin mints! We must be careful what we find more here
