Nurturing the “Pre-Born-Again”

post168picLast week, as I was catching up with a Christian friend I hadn’t seen in ages, she told me that her HS son has a new girlfriend, “a very sweet girl, but not a Christian, she’s had no religious upbringing.”

What?? A Christian dating an unbeliever!! For some Christians, those are fighting words.

Many Christian parents pray for their babies’ spouses from the day their child is born, or perhaps even before. I started continue here

For the Sake of Holiness?

post165picHow far are you, how far am I, willing to go for the sake of holiness?

This has been a busy summer for our culture. Same sex couples received the right to get married. Planned Parenthood was outed as a seller of baby parts. Bruce Jenner changed his name and his body parts and insisted everyone call him Caitlyn. And, most recently, a teenage boy with gender confusion demanded that he be allowed in the girls’ locker room.

Do you remember the day you got your license? I do! And I’ve no idea how I passed the driving test; I didn’t know how to drive. All my friends told me what the written test would be like so I memorized the rules of the road. I knew I’d have to parallel park so I learned that, too. I passed both tests on the first try.

In the weeks after I got my license I learned how to continue here

Unfamiliar Territory

Both of my daughters-in-law are, or will soon be, raising boys. I remember how concerned I was when I learned I would be a mom of boys; I was entering unfamiliar territory. Fortunately, through my sons, I am in more familiar territory with my daughters-in-law. I love my girls and I really appreciate that they keep me updated regarding whatever unfamiliar path they happen to find themselves on.

Just this week I received these texts… find more here

The Crazy Lady in the Woods

Have you heard about the Crazy Lady who lives in the woods at the edge of the school playground in northern Illinois? She has wild hair and blazing eyes and she screams about wanting to kill people. She walks fast and slings her hands beside her. She’s a scary sight.

It was near the end of the school year, just a few years ago when the children first saw her.  During morning recess on a sunny day the kids were playing outside when they heard her shouting in the woods. Alarmed, the children stopped running and playing and stood still as they stared toward the woods.

Suddenly, she burst through the clearing on the path that snaked through the woods. The children didn’t move; were they continue reading here
