Water Works… …Or It Doesn’t

I think Brian and I carried a water jinx with us this summer. Not that I believe in luck, good or bad, but it seemed that wherever we went, there was a water issue.

A Stone in the Wall

dads walls 001In the spring of 2000, my dad and I drove to North Carolina to document the works of art he and my Gramps had created out of stone. He told me he could pick out the stones that had smashed a finger, or been dropped on a toe. Every stone in every wall had a story. Dad talked a lot about a lot of things on that trip.

The Challenge to be a Diligent Gardener

My mom is a serious gardener. She always has a beautiful garden, but when she downsized a few years ago she lost her garden space. To remedy that, my sibs and I — well, ok, the guys — built garden boxes for her.

Now, she is out there gardening every single day; and look at the results…

On the Road Again….

Brian and I have been travelling this week. We started out in Illinois then crossed the Mississippi River at St. Louis into Missouri.
