Choose Your Battles… Wisely

post135a
I watched a trending video on social media that was tagged, “When Will Christians Take a Stand?” The video was of a young woman being kicked, stomped, and brutally killed while men recorded the attack with their phones. Her death was allegedly because she refused to deny her Christian faith.

However, that wasn’t the truth. The person who posted the video removed it with a disclaimer stating, “We have removed the video after finding out it was from 2007 and wasn’t an example of anti-Christian persecution.”

As a Christian, I was enraged when I saw that video. When I learned it wasn’t what I thought it was, I experienced a measure of find more here

When God Swoops In

post127graphicWhen was the last time that God overwhelmed you with his majesty? How have you experienced God at work in your life? Can you recall a time that God moved a mountain for you, or opened a door, or protected you from danger?

I confess: I used to read romance novels. Lots of them. I’d check one out of the library, read it, return it, and get the next one on the shelf. I especially enjoyed a series – by the end of it, I felt like the characters were family.

It didn’t matter if they were set in medieval times, modern times, or any time in between – I’d read them. I enjoyed each one, and yet they were all the same. There was usually a poor girl and a wealthy man – she would fall for him – he would pursue her – and they would live happily ever after; true love wins.

But, wait – isn’t that the story of Cinderella? Isn’t that the storyline of the latest best selling romance novel? How did we get from Cinderella to Shades of Grey? How did we move from glass slippers to continue here

Missed Meetings

blog114graphicI heard you calling to me yesterday morning and when I said, “I’ll get to you later,” I knew I was lying. I lied to myself and I lied to you. When I told myself I’d meet with you later in the day I knew in my heart I wouldn’t. When I whispered to you, “Later,” I knew it wouldn’t happen. I know myself almost as well as you do.

“Come and sit with me for a few minutes,” you asked, but there was too much to continue here

State of Heart

Post113graphic

Tonight the President will share with us the state of our great Union. He will tell us what he and the congress have accomplished in the past year, and outline for us the things he would like to accomplish in the year ahead.

As he speaks some citizens will think he hasn’t done enough and some will think he has done too much. There are people who think he is moving our nation toward greater things and others who think he is leading us to keep reading here
