In Defense of Discontent

blog161pixWe’ve been striving toward the goal of contentment throughout the summer, but I dare say, there is one area of our lives where we must fight contentment and purposefully remain discontent. There is a realm where there is no excuse, or room, for contentment.

Did you get a haircut? Have you lost weight? Are those new glasses? Are you wearing your makeup differently? People can’t quite put their thumb on it, but they know something’s different about you.

You know what it is. You know that it isn’t a physical change you’ve made, but it is a change that is being made deep within you.

Perhaps it is a change that is so subtle it caught you off guard. You notice that you don’t fly off the handle like you used to. Or you have more patience with a difficult person in your life. Or you find more here

When God Swoops In

post127graphicWhen was the last time that God overwhelmed you with his majesty? How have you experienced God at work in your life? Can you recall a time that God moved a mountain for you, or opened a door, or protected you from danger?

Is there a critically important day in your life when God showed up and divided time; a day, or an event, when from that moment on, you referred to things as “before” and “after”?

A Real Super Hero!

IMG_8450Our grandson Matty wants to be a Ninja Turtle. He doesn’t want to simply wear a Ninja Turtle costume; he wants to BE a Ninja Turtle. And why not – Ninja Turtles are heroes – they fight bad guys and never lose. They eat pizza every day! They live in sewers – how cool is that?
